School takes place – Phase 2
Phase 1 of the project 'School takes place' was submitted in December 2004 to the Aarhus School of Architecture, which financed a 3-year senior scholarship that was the framework of the research.
At a meeting between SBi and Aarhus School of Architecture in January 2005 it was agreed that the two institutions will publish a report together. Moreover the report was submitted to the KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm which stated that the work will be accepted for review as a doctoral thesis if a theoretical chapter was added based on the French philosopher Bruno Latour.
The research is aimed at several groups: the responsible parties involved in construction of schools i.a. architects, municipalities and schools. For this group it is particularly the specific examples and discussions of the relation between the physical frame of schools and the pedagogical intentions that are of interest. Another group consists of students and researchers at schools of architecture and universities who will find the project interesting for its theoretical discussions which it will be possible to transfer to other types of buildings and to the relation between people and spaces in a broader sense.
