Ongoing research project
Integrated control of solar shading, daylight and artificial lighting
The project aims to provide a practical background and calculation basis for optimal selection of solar shadings and integrated control strategies for office, commercial and institutional buildings, new as well as renovated. In practise this overall objective is subdivided into the following four objectives:
- To provide a simple design tool for selecting solar shadings in the form of data and calculation models for typical solar shadings and control principles.
- To implement calculation models for selected solar shadings in the software package BSim
- To develop and test a prototype of a new control system for integrated control of artificial light, daylighting and solar shading for open plan offices.
- To demonstrate and document how the integrated system works in an office building.
