Energy consumption in offices with large room depths
The main object of the project is to prepare guidelines for design and planning of optimal physical frames for future office environments (New Ways of Working) in both new buildings and at the renovation of existing office buildings. The project aims to establish the best possible indoor climate conditions to promote user well-being and productivity while minimising energy consumption for lighting, ventilation and cooling at the same time. The project is especially directed at today’s new office concepts. The overall aim can described by 3 sub-aims:
- to develop a number of integrated design and environment strategies for the design of future office environments, which combine considerations of architecture, technology, interior decoration and organisation in order to ensure a satisfactory indoor climate
- to outline on an overall level, any possible conflicts between energy concerns and organisational wishes
- to provide guidelines for quality architectural solutions for future open plan offices based on a survey of causal connections between indoor climate factors, building design and interior decoration as well as the users’ perceived satisfaction
