Integrating BEAT in BSim
The background for the project is the expectations of introducing regulations regarding the environmental impact of buildings. One outcome of this is that the European Union has recently authorised CEN to prepare methods for environmental assessment of buildings. Furthermore, the Danish environmental labelling scheme has elaborated a set of criteria for labelling single-family houses. The Danish Building Research Institute (SBi) have on this background developed a piece of building environmental assessment software called BEAT (Building Environmental Assessment Tool).
The aim of this project is to facilitate the use of BEAT by
integrating it into SBi's building simulation software called BSim.
This allows both energy and environmental assessments to be performed
in one operation. The integration will be done in a way that ensures
that future adjustments can be made with regard to the anticipated CEN
methods and the associated environmental declaration of building
products.
