EPA-NR. Energy Performance Assessment for existing non-residential buildings

The new EU Directive on Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) stipulates a number of requirements - especially to existing buildings. The main objective of ENPER-EXIST is to support the implementation of EPBS in existing buildings.

ENPER-EXIST covers four main areas:

  1. To collect data about technical work already carried out on existing buildings. Work has started within the CEN framework with the implementation of EPBD, but mainly with focus on new buildings. However, different projects on certification schemes are proceeding on a European level, but these are not coordinated.
  2. To compile experiences and work on legal, economic and organisational issues such as analyses of existing certification schemes, economy and national administration.
  3. To acquire better knowledge of the European building stock.
  4. To define guidelines for future activities regarding existing buildings, such as providing a possibility (for or against) of widening the field of application of EPBD in future versions.

The work programme is organised in four technical work tasks with Denmark as the coordinator of Subtask WP3.

The task of WP3 is to obtain an overview of the existing building stock in Europe. A procedure will be developed that contributes to increased knowledge of the existing building stock and which indicates how certification of buildings can contribute to this aim.

Cooperation: The project is carried out in cooperation with:

  • Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment (CSTB - coordinator)
  • Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO)
