Environmental indicators for buildings
The aim of the project is:
- To prepare a proposal for environmental indicators for buildings that supports environmental assessment of buildings and serves to survey and prioritise environmental efforts in the building sector,
- To develop methods, tools and reference data that facilitate the practical application of the individual indicators,
- To propose principles for a benchmarking system to assess the environmental efforts, and
- To prepare a proposal of how this benchmarking system can be established and become institutionalised in order to ensure a continuous updating of data.
The project should be considered in continuation of SBi efforts concerning environmental declaration and environmental classification of buildings, but also in connection with the continued development of the BEAT tool for environmental assessment of buildings, building parts and building products. It is also a continuation of the efforts concerning environmental declaration of building products and eco-accounting for housing.
