Energy consumption in schools - Benchmarks and visualisation

The SBi part of the investigation aims:

to expose significant correlations between electricity consumption and age of building, size of school (area/number of students), ventilation and lighting forms

to make key figures available at the Internet, so that the individual school has access to relevant key figures for bechmarking purposes

to provide schools with a tool that can be used for energy control, and can be incorporated in teaching.

The investigation falls in three parts. Part 1: A a statistical analysis will be made of the electricity consumption in schools in order to establish possible connections between electricity consumption and the age, size and equipement of schools. To begin with the electricity consumption of all 52 schools in Aarhus Municipality will be investigated. Part 2: Benchmarks will be developed regarding the electricity consumption of Danish schools. Part 3: A computer tool will developed, which the schools can use in connection with energy control and for teaching purposes.
