New director at SBi

Thorkild Ærø is the new director of SBi

 Thorkild Ærø is MSc in Surveying, Planning, and Land Management (1992) and holds a PhD degree in Architecture and Design from Aalborg University (2002).  The title of his thesis is "Residential preferences, choice of housing, and lifestyle."

Thorkild Ærø is an acknowledged national and international expert on urban planning, urban renewal and housing, changing relations between neighbourhoods, cities, and regions. Keywords for Thorkild Ærø's research are housing, real-estate management, mobility, residential choice, urban development and regeneration, use and perception of the city, urban policies and planning.

From 2005 to 2008 Thorkild Ærø headed an interdisciplinary department at the Danish Building Research Institute that analysed urban-renewal projects and area-based initiatives, individual relations to house and home, local and national urban and housing policy and regional development.

Thorkild Ærø was appointed director of the Danish Building Research Institute and took up his new position on 1 December 2008.
